He also brought television to Gainesville, Georgia. He acquired WGGA, Gainesville’s oldest radio station, and was the owner of Wide Travel travel agency and chairman of the family-run business, Jacobs Media. He and his wife Martha were named Gainesville’s Philanthropists of the Year in 2010. He served on the RMA Board of Trustees for 31 years and was named RMA’s Distinguished Alumnus in 2006.
