Captain Bob Hartzell - 1939

Captain Hartzell was recommended for the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Chinese Order of the Cloud for his heroic devotion to duty.
He is the subject of one of author Paul Gallico’s most remarkable tributes. Gallico’s feature article in the May 1944 Esquire closes: “He stands out as a man among men in Esquire's gallery of American heroes."
