Rutledge A. “Rusty” Griffin, Jr. - 1962

In this role, he grew th company from a small family business to one that manufactured branded agricultural chemical products to almost every major U.S. market and over 80 countries. He renamed the company Griffin Corp and led it to become an industry leader. After decades of success, he sold the business to DuPont in 2003. His business acumen led to his appointments to the boards of the Georgia Ports Authority and the Georgia Board of Regents.

 

Griffin served on Riverside’s Board of Trustees and was Chairman when he unexpectedly passed away in 2019. The Academy recognized him, posthumously, as Distinguished Alumnus in 2020.
