Frankel attended Drexel University and received a B.S. from the LeBow College of Business with magna cum laude distinction in 2006.

He received his juris doctorate from Western Michigan University, Cooley Law School, in 2009, cum laude, and was senior associate editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. Frankel has bar affiliations and court admissions privileges in New York, Connecticut, Florida, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Since 2009 he is a partner with Greenwich Legal Associates, a boutique law firm in Greenwich, CT, specializing in sophisticated class action/opt-out litigation in the antitrust, commodities, securities and consumer areas. Frankel and his wife, Jennifer, and their twin sons, Austin and Marley, live in Boca Raton, Florida.
