Everett Strupper - 1913

Strupper was an All-American football player who played halfback for Georgia Tech from 1915-1917.
He was the leading scorer of the 1916 Georgia Tech vs Cumberland 222-0 football game. Because Strupper was deaf from a childhood illness, he would call out the plays instead of the quarterback. During his three years at Georgia Tech, they never lost a game.  In 1972, Strupper was posthumously elected into the College Football Hall of Fame and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1974. He is credited with the origin of the University of Alabama’s Red Elephant mascot after quoting a fan in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Article he wrote. He was posthumously inducted into RMA’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
