Lucius Chappell - 1923

Lucius graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1927.

He was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy in WWII and was presented the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. Sculpin submarine in 1942. In that same year, he was also presented a Gold Star in lieu of a second award of the Navy Cross and in 1945 was presented the Legion of Merit.
